Measuring Ultrasonic and Electrical Properties of Early-Age Cemented Tailings Backfill

The setting behavior strongly affects the workability and loading capacity of a fresh cemented tailings backfill (CTB). Vicat test is conventional way to measure time cementitious mixture, using standard needle detect penetration resistance. However, this method limited laboratory testing, it difficult carry out in underground closed stopes. In study, two nondestructive methods, ultrasonic pulse electrical conductivity tests, contrasting traditional hydration heat measurement test, are used illustrate process early-age CTB. effect cement content (e.g., 2.5%, 5% 7.5%) type (silica iron mine tailings) on CTB recorded as well. results show that, CTBs change from solid–liquid mixtures solids, frequency converts low high turns growth decline. As degree increases, solid connections continuously increase, which increases amplitude rapidly decreases conductivity. TG value can be effectively predict initial set silica backfill. For backfill, although phase path formed, more products needed reach specific shear stiffness, meaning lags behind signal.
